With the incredible success of recent youth-led environmental movements worldwide, the power of youth in improving the current and future state of our planet cannot be ignored. To encourage young people in their efforts to create a better present and future, the Carmel Green Teen Micro-Grant Program, an environmental granting program administered by teens in central Indiana, awards funding to youth-led green projects, helping young people empower themselves and see their true impact on the world through environmental service-learning.
The program, after creating a model for youth empowerment and environmental impact that caught the attention of the White House and Jane Goodall, is now making all of its materials and advice available open-source to all people interested in starting similar programs in new communities.
This website contains the most important documents and instructions used to create and maintain a successful youth-led granting program, including tips for a productive board, application documents, ideas on obtaining program funding, and spreadsheets to help you easily calculate the environmental impacts of various types of projects. You can, using these tools, make an enormous impact on your community, its young people, and your world.
To make establishing this sort of program as easy as possible, this website is set up like an instruction handbook, with major chapters on the left-hand sidebar and sub-chapters in the branching bars. Documents will be referred to using "Bold Quotes" and can be found online on Dropbox here or as zipped files after the Welcome letter.
Thank you for making your community greener, one youth project at a time.
